Liberado – Digital Platform for Sexual Education & Support

A true experience for me & my team. We won 3rd place  at  Editors Lab , season 2015-2016, Bucharest.  An event supported by Google News Lab.

The main idea was offering sexual education for teenagers & adults and support for teenage mothers. Goal: sexual education to be mandatory in schools from early ages! Target audience: teenagers & adults, journalists, specialists, general public. Problem we tackle: - Romania is on 1st place in Europe with the highest number of teenage mothers under 16 and 2nd place, after Bulgaria, at teenage mothers under 18. - the lack of sexual education in schools & at home, lack of access to info about birth control & STD, the result: unwanted teenage pregnancy, teenage child birth and child abandonment - the lack of support & counselling before and after birth for teenage mothers - sexual education is not mandatory in schools – impediment: mentality of parents, society, church 👉 they impose abstinence, this is not the solution.
Overview
Liberado was developed as a response to the alarming rate of teenage pregnancies in Romania. The platform aimed to fill a critical gap in access to sexual education and support services for teenagers and young adults. The project’s goal was to advocate for sexual education as a mandatory topic in schools and to provide accessible resources for prevention, support, and awareness.
My Role
I led the UI/UX design for Liberado, shaping the visual language and user flows to ensure clarity, trust, and usability for a sensitive topic. I also collaborated closely with the front-end team to implement the design and ensure consistent interaction patterns. The platform included features such as:
👉 A self-assessment tool called “Sexperience”
👉 Support and counseling request system
👉 Educational content, news, and videos
👉 Real-time visual data dashboards and regional insights
Impact
Liberado reached a wide audience and sparked conversations about the need for structured sexual education in Romania. The project was recognized with a 3rd place award at Editors Lab Bucharest and was praised for its user-centric approach and clean, impactful design.
